Wiseheart & Wild

We are a textile arts studio and wool salon based in the High Peak.

About Us

Our Story

Wiseheart & Wild opened in August 2019 as a working textile studio and is home to Wiseheart Textiles, an artisan weaver, and artist and dyer Wild Spinster. It provides a gallery space for local textile artists and other creatives working within the High Peak. The team is passionate about natural fibres, particularly wool from native breeds. To that end they support farmers and local wool producers, and the Wool Salon is stocked with British wool, much of it from local farms.

Resident Artists

Wiseheart Textiles

Kate is a weaver, spinner, and knitter. Her primary interest lies in utilising these traditional crafts to create sustainable, artisan home ware for modern life. An ex-teacher, Kate’s passion for education is unparalleled and she regularly runs workshops and teaches private lessons in the textile arts.

Wild Spinster

Annie is a fibre artist, photographer and musician. She works in her studio above the main gallery where she creates hand-dyed yarns and fabrics. For her, the different strands of her work regularly intertwine and inspire each other. Annie runs our dyeing workshops and teaches both dyeing and singing privately.

Moonshine Illustrations

Martyn is a illustrator and cartoonist. He is currently creating his own range of prints, mugs and home ware featuring British sheep breeds and other fibre producing animals. You will often find his artwork and lettering around the studio, where he acts as our retail manager.

Workshops at Wiseheart & Wild

Workshops at Wiseheart & Wild are currently on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic and government restrictions.

Please keep an eye on this space as we will be rescheduling and booking new workshops once it is safe to do so.
